About Us

The Town of Ste. Anne is a bilingual community located east of Winnipeg. Bibliothèque Ste. Anne Library was first established in January of 1990. The library opened in two small rooms in the vacant convent attached to the Villa Youville in December 1990. When the convent was slated for demolition, a house was purchased at 16 rue de l’Église to relocate the library. The new library opened in October 1994 but major renovations, including a new addition, were required to make the building suitable for a library. In 2006 renovations to the former house were made to create additional space for the library and to make better use of the office, storage and meeting rooms.

The bilingual collection has grown to over 24,000 items, with an annual circulation of more than 16,500 items: books, periodicals, videocassettes, DVDs and CDs for children, teens and adults. The library also subscribes to a wide variety of periodicals and magazines. As the number of memberships increases every year, Bibliothèque Ste. Anne has added more hours of operation to suit the needs of the public.
